For Immediate Release March 23, 2010 David Castillo, who has publicly opposed the legislation for months, called on his Democratic challengers to take a clear position on the bill more than three weeks ago - in a press release dated February 26. Castillo has consistently supported free-market solutions to reduce costs and increase coverage for those Americans without health insurance. Heck had declined to take a firm position in support or opposition until he was confident it would pass and current Congressman Brian Baird had voted for it. Baird announced his retirement in December and knew - when he voted for the bill on Sunday - that he would not be facing the voters again this November. Castillo believes that indecision as a candidate, on a piece of legislation of this magnitude, gives insight into how a person will legislate when in office. Leaders are out front and open about who they are and what they believe. The people of the 3rd District will never have to guess how I'll vote when the choice is between more government or more freedom," asserts Castillo. "I will stand with the people and choose freedom every time." Castillo currently works as a financial advisor with Edward Jones. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and is a member of Rotary International, the VFW and the American Legion. |
