Brian Baird has rescheduled his public town meetings, and now wants to meet in secrecy on the phone. He is worried that opposition to Obama’s health care reform could turn out hundreds of angry constituents.
Town hall meetings are supposed to be a forum for debates, and at times you may even have to deal with someone that has a differing opinion.
Baird’s problems started when he called out his fears that there would be a ‘mob’ mentality and likened his opposition to the Nazi ‘brown shirts’. Has Brian Baird become disconnected with his constituents?
Judging by the number of phone calls I received this evening, you're upset about the proposed Obama Care.
The proposed bill will not allow increased coverage or new enrollees in private health care. The GOP estimates that private health care will fail in 2013 if Obama's proposed plan passes.
Adam Smith is hosting a town hall meeting this Saturday in Lakewood. This is a great opportunity for you to voice your opinion. The details of the town meeting follow:
Congressman Smith will host a Health Care Town Hall meeting this Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Milgard Family HOPE Center, 10402 Kline Street SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
I think we may all agree that Health Care needs some measure of reform. But there's absolutely no reason to rush this bill especially on the heels of a rushed, expensive and failed stimulus plan. Pushing this bill through without the proper due diligence is a prescription for disaster.
You can also get up to date information at the Washington State Republican Party's website.
I will post current information on our website.
Please call your Congressmen and let them know your opinion. Please e-mail your sphere, write blogs, write letters to the editor and talk to your friends and family. Tell them to keep government's hands off your health care.
Yours truly,
Scott Roberts, Chairman, Thurston County Republican Party
My friend John O'Callahan wrote this editorial, and I thought I would post it in my blog for you to read. I can't agree with him more.

There have been many times over the years that we have been called, as republicans, the party of no. For all those that say this I say that they are correct but they are spelling the word no as a negative not the positive that I see.
We are the party of know! We know that what has been happening over the last six months is not the path that our Great Nation should be on and we have some good suggestions but the democrats have the votes in the house and the senate. We also know that because of this they will not listen to anything that a republican may say unless we sing their song, and we know that they are singing off key!
We know that the cap and trade bill will cost jobs, increase the price of all fuel putting us back into the days of President Carter and the misery index. We know that it will be even worse than that because at lease he asked us to lower the temp against the winter cold and not so high against the summer heat. This bill will force us into this and there will be no relief in sight. We have a president that said during the campaign that if a company would try to start new oil refinery or coal fired plants that they would go bankrupt in the process. We know this because we have it on tape. So yes, we are the party of know! We know what he is doing.
What else do we say know to? We know that there are now at least 15 positions assigned by the President that are only accountable to him. They were not approved by the senate or congress nor are they answerable to any of these two bodies. Just think of the power these people have then you can be the party of know as well.
The liberals do have it correct that the Republican Party is the party of know. They just need to learn how to spell the word correctly and then they too would be on the road to knowing as much as we do.
