On Wednesday, January 23, at noon, the Thurston Mainstream Republicans will invite local representatives of the Republican presidential candidates to speak to attendees of the monthly meeting. I went to the candidate forum and found it to be very enjoyable. The room was filled beyond capacity and some of us had to stand in the door way. It was good to hear from spokespersons from Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Dino Rossi. Each gave a statement about the candidate, and then at the end there were some questions asked trying to get at specifics of issues like global warming. Folks were friendly and open to discussion, and I was very happy to see so many involved with our election process that they turned out for a meeting like this.
Anyone else have thoughts on today's meeting?
The event went well. One of the organizers stated they had hoped to have the tables arranged so there would be more seating capacity. It would have been nice to provide a place where campaign materials could have been offered. Some of the questions about specific topics, might have been answered by the materials.
